Article 1 – Purpose of the contract
These General Terms and Conditions of Rental govern the contractual relationship between G-rent SARL, a vehicle rental company registered in Tunisia with its head office in Tunis, and any individual or legal entity (hereinafter "the Renter") wishing to rent a vehicle. Signing the rental contract implies full acceptance of these terms. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.
Article 2 – Age and licence requirements
To rent a vehicle from G-rent, the Renter must:
- Be at least 21 years old at the time of pick-up
- Have held a valid driving licence for at least 2 years
- Present a current licence that is not suspended or cancelled
- Drivers under 25 may be charged a young driver surcharge
G-rent reserves the right to refuse a rental to any Renter who does not meet these conditions, with no obligation to refund the deposit paid.
Article 3 – Required documents
The Renter must present the following original documents at pick-up:
- Identity document: national ID card (CIN) for Tunisian nationals, valid passport for foreign nationals
- Driving licence: valid original licence, with an international driving permit if required
- Security deposit: cash or a valid bank card for the deposit hold
- For companies: trade register extract and authorisation of the legal representative
If any of these documents is missing, G-rent reserves the right to refuse to hand over the vehicle.
Article 4 – Security deposit
A security deposit of 1,000 TND per vehicle is required at pick-up.
It is paid in cash or held on a bank card (nothing is charged). It is returned when the vehicle is brought back, minus any repair costs or fines.
Article 5 – Prices and payment
Rental prices are in Tunisian dinars (TND), all taxes included. They include the vehicle rental, comprehensive insurance (with excess) and unlimited mileage in Tunisia.
Payment terms:
- Deposit: 20% to 30% of the total amount at the time of booking
- Balance: payable in full when the vehicle is handed over
- Accepted payment methods: cash (TND), bank transfer, bank cheque, bank card (Visa, Mastercard)
Article 6 – Fuel
All G-rent vehicles are handed over with a full tank. The Renter agrees to return the vehicle with the same fuel level. If the tank is not full on return, G-rent will charge the missing fuel at the current price plus a 20 TND service fee.
Article 7 – Mileage
Mileage is unlimited for any use of the vehicle within Tunisia. Taking the vehicle out of Tunisia is strictly forbidden without prior written consent from G-rent. In case of unauthorised exit, the Renter will be held liable for all damage and costs incurred, and the security deposit will be withheld immediately.
Article 8 – Insurance and cover
All G-rent vehicles are covered by comprehensive insurance including:
- Unlimited third-party liability
- Damage in all accidents (with excess payable by the Renter)
- Vehicle theft (with excess)
- 24/7 roadside assistance in Tunisia
The applicable excess is 1,000 TND, covered by the security deposit. This excess is payable by the Renter in the event of a claim, regardless of liability.
Article 9 – Liability in case of accident
In the event of an accident, the Renter must:
- Call the police (197) and G-rent (+216 21 104 101) immediately
- Not move the vehicle before the authorities arrive, unless there is imminent danger
- Fill in an accident report with the other driver
- Not admit liability without G-rent's agreement
- Send the accident report to G-rent within 24 hours
Failure to meet these obligations may make the Renter fully liable and void the insurance cover.
Article 10 – Cancellation policy
If the Renter cancels the booking:
- More than 48 hours before pick-up: full refund of the deposit
- Between 24 and 48 hours before: 50% of the deposit is kept
- Less than 24 hours before or no-show: 100% of the deposit is kept
G-rent may cancel the booking in case of force majeure (accident or theft of the booked vehicle). In that case, a full refund is made or a replacement vehicle is offered.
Article 11 – Jurisdiction and governing law
These terms are governed by Tunisian law. Any dispute concerning the interpretation or performance of the rental contract will be submitted exclusively to the Court of First Instance of Tunis, after an attempt at amicable settlement.
